Complex Analysis of Switching Operations in High-Voltage Systems With the Aid of Measuring Instruments by ARTEMES and the Use of Neural Networks (Artificial Intelligence)

Switching operations in high-voltage systems are carried out with the help of installed switching devices such as circuit breakers, load switches, disconnectors or load-break switches in order to be able to switch over, disconnect and earth parts of the system. These three-phase switching devices are equipped with a drive motor that draws the necessary energy from the DC voltage supply. The resulting current change depends on the switch type and can be assigned to it. Due to ageing mechanisms, ice load, faulty switching or component breakage, deviations from the known current curve occur.

By using a measuring system to record the current course and with the help of the application of artificial intelligence (neural network), the switching actions carried out by the switching devices can be analysed and evaluated.

The picture on the right shows the schematic representation of the measuring principle for detecting the change in current when carrying out switching operations in high-voltage systems.
